Secure Military Vehicle Storage - California Desert
- Date Added: 06/21/07

Challenge:
Project managers for this new state-of-the-art military facility needed roll-up doors that would allow them to maintain a high level of security. Their challenge was to find a door that could operate “maintenance free” despite the corrosive desert conditions so that they could avoid using outside maintenance contractors who would have to gain access to their secured site.
Another concern was maintaining a controlled environment. The Project Managers wanted a door that could open and close quickly to avoid as much energy loss as possible, as well as, insulate against the severity of desert temperatures.
Maintaining the integrity of the building’s state-of-the-art design was also an important factor in choosing the right doors. The architects were looking for a door that could not only be color matched to the buildings exterior, but one that also offered window configurations to compliment the building’s design.
Solution:
After researching a number of different door companies and making on-site visits to see how different roll-up doors performed, project managers chose the Marathon Hydrarol Door System.
Only the Hydrarol doors with Hydraulic drive operators could provide the kind of extended cycle life and high speed performance that the project managers were looking for. The Hydrarol utilizes a completely self contained system that can operate reliably even under extreme conditions.
The Hydrarol offered insulated slats as a “standard feature” whereas, with other companies, this would have meant an additional cost. Also, an operating speed of 42”/second, meant energy loss would be kept to a minimum.
Finally, because custom colored finishes and window configurations are simply “business as usual” for the manufacturer, only the Marathon Hydrarol could provide all of the operational and aesthetic features necessary for their specific application.
