Truck Wash Building
- Date Added: 10/23/07

CHALLENGE
This international, high volume, small package delivery firm has a large fleet of trucks that are washed every day to maintain their spotless appearance. A stand-alone truck wash building, containing two wash tunnels is used to clean dozens of trucks every day. There are two ENTRY doors and two EXIT doors on the building.
Existing doors on the building were bi-folding type, with solid panels. They suffered substantial downtime, resulting in thousands of dollars, because of heavy cycle demands and difficulty with ice buildup on the doors during cold weather.
Another problem was that the wash tunnels frequently became wind tunnels as high winds blew right through the building.
SOLUTION
After careful consideration, the facility manager selected Marathon Spirit HD high speed exterior fabric roll-up doors to replace the existing doors in all four openings.
The rugged Spirit HD features heavy-duty steel construction to withstand the rigors of daily use. High cycle usage is no problem for the powerful 2 hp in-line electric motor and no maintenance gear train.
The two-ply PVC-impregnated woven polyester panels withstand punctures, tears and temperatures from -20°F - 190°F.
Integral windbars are built into the panel fabric to resist high winds and pressure differentials . . . and full perimeter seals keep the weather outside where it belongs.
If the door is accidentally hit . . . the exclusive bottom bar Flex-Tab™ simply pops out of the side guides. It can be reset in seconds with a quick flip of the wrist, using the Bolt-Action™ Reset System. Spirit HD also features the Softouch™ fail-safe electric reversing bottom edge and send/receive photo eye for an additional measure of safety.
Spirit HD high speed doors now help get clean trucks out the door quick at this wash tunnel facility . . . saving excessive costs and increasing profitability.
